Description
What drives a traveler to reach Nordkapp? Is it the human urge to traverse the farthest reaches of the earth? Is it the innate curiosity to explore the world? Is it perhaps the wish to commemorate love at the pinnacle of the world?
Discovery Travels will help you experiencing the northernmost of Europe. Starting from the Finnish Lapland, you will look out along the Swedish border to finally cross the Arctic region of Norway.
This tour merges outdoor adventure, cultural Sami heritage, continuous search of Northern lights, and local traditions, specifically designed for eco-conscious travelers in search of an authentic and premium experience.
NOTE! The tour has been structured to include a few hours of drive each day, along with opportunities to enjoy various locations and activities.

Included: accommodation, treatment half-board (breakfast and dinner), a visit to Santa Claus Village and Santa himself, kuska making in Övertorneå lab according to program, entrance fee for visit to the Globe Noordkaap, other excursions explicitly mentioned as included in the program.
Not included: flights, car rental, transfers (car rental, fuel, or trains, etc.), self-arranged meals, any activities defined as optional, and experiences not specifically included in the itinerary.

Day 1. Rovaniemi

Arrival to Rovaniemi and check in at Hotel. Since your arrival, it will be possible to enjoy sauna any time in the privacy of your room. This elegant space will insure your relax in total connection with the nature. From your glass walls sauna you can in fact enjoy the view to the pine trees forest outside. The dinner at the hotel restaurant will complete the connection to the Lappish tranquil, traditional, and, at the same time, elegant environment.
Day 2 . Santa Claus Village and Finnish Culture: Sauna

Breakfast at the hotel. A rich selection of local delicacies will start your day: berries growing into the wild, honey, reindeer meet and other traditional food of the Lappish culinary tradition. After breakfast, the day can be dedicated to visit Santa Claus Village and a reindeer farm. At Santa Claus Village do not miss to pay a visit to Santa in person, and his post office. In the late afternoon-early evening: sauna and swim into the river at Kesärafla (depending on availability at the time of reservation). Dinner served at sauna or hotel (depending on the opening calendar of Kesärafla).
Day 3. Experience of Sami Handcraft in the Swedish Lapland

After breakfast, you will leave directed to Övertoneå, on the Swedish side of the Tornio river. On your way to Tornio, you will stop at a very beautiful, family-run, farm by a small lake. You will meet very beautiful reindeer before continuing your journey across the Arctic region.
Just on the opposite side of the Övertorneån silta (Övertorneå bridge) you will meet a traditional handicraft lab. You will learn about the traditional Sami handicrafts. The Sami is the most ancient people from the Northernmost of Europe. You will also hear about how and with which materials these tools are made. Finally, in this extraordinary place you will make your own kuska (finalize the process of making it) a timeless object that will stay with you for the rest of this amazing journey and for life.
After the visit in Övertoneå, it will be time to move towards the North. Drive to Pallas where you will check in a new hotel, in the middle of the Nordic forest of conifers. Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
Day 4. Pallas and Yllästunturi National Park
After breakfast, exploring Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. A guide will fetch you at the hotel hiking through fells and forests. You can reach the summit of the highest fell, Taivaskero, for scenic views. It will be possible also to explore the Pallastunturi Visitor Centre to learn more about the local art (availability and opening time to be confirmed at reservation).
Day 5. Alta – Bjørnfjell

Breakfast as early as 7:00 o clock to check out and leave. Destination: Norway. You will drive all the way to Bjørnfjell. The accommodation in traditional logs cabins. The minimum of occupants for the cabin is 2 persons.
Possibility to do optional excursions. You can chose in place according to the weather if you prefer outdoors activities such as whales watching (optional), king crab fishing (optional), or indoors visits such as Alta Museum (included). The rock art in Alta is one of eight Norwegian must-see attractions enlisted on the UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Alta’s World Heritage consists of rock carvings and rock paintings, the oldest more than 7000 years old.
Evening dinner in local restaurant.
Day 6. Nordkapp

Breakfast starts at 7:00. Check out and leave at 9:00 destination: Nordkapp.
Arrival at Noorkaap to the “Globe” where it is possible to visit within opening hours available following this link . Check in at hotel, free evening. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 7. Krasjok and the Sami Culture
Breakfast starts at 7:00. Leave at 9:00 destination Karasjok (Nordkapp-Karasjok ca 4 h. drive). Karasjok is on of the most important villages where the Sami culture is preserved. This village hosts a Sami museum was the first cultural institution in Norway in 1972 (the museum might be visited, however it is under reformation in some parts as well as its exhibitions are being moved). After the check in at the hotel, visit to Sami village. Dinner in local restaurant or hotel.
Day 8. Inari Lake and Saariselkä

After check out, leaving with destination Saariselkä (karasjok-Saariselkä 186 Km, ca 2.5 h) with an intermediate stop at Inari lake. Depending on the weather conditions: optional visit to Siida: Sámi Museum OR Lake cruise on Inari Lake. Accommodation at Hotel in Saariselkä. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 9. Back to Rovaniemi

Breakfast starts at 7:00. Leave at 9:00 destination Rovaniemi (Saariselkä Rovaniemi ca 5.30h for 443 kms) . Arrival at Rovaniemi and check in at Hotel. This last day can be freely organized and some activities can be arranged. Otherwise, it will be possible to spend the last day shopping and visiting Santa Claus village for the last time before departure. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 10. Departure
Breakfast availble from 7:00. Check out and departure.
